The new record that arrived last weekend, I was working on Saturdays and Sundays, but I managed to listen to it. Satoko Fujii and Yoshihide Otomo's live at Shinjuku Pit Inn last January was released by Ayler Record in France.

An album recording the improvisations of the two at Shinjuku Pit Inn. Recording time is 48 minutes. It's a combination of electric guitar and piano, but while the emotions go back and forth between quiet and exciting scenes, it's supposed to be a melody instrument, but it has a certain non-idiomatic side, and it's rare. It's a performance that became an encounter. From the simple surprise that different instruments can produce such sounds, you can appreciate the wide range of variations, and as you listen to it, you will be drawn into the drama. There are scenes where the electric guitar is like a guitar, and there are scenes where the effects are roaring, showing a variety of expressions. It might be nice to hear about the unlikely combination of free improvisation.
