All sorts of jazz, free jazz and improv. Never for money, always for love.
Newest release from Ayler Records' Download-only series is 10 numbers, from the Canadian drummer and composer Michel Lambert and his partners in crime. On these recordings they consist of Raoul Björkenheim on guitar, Mat Maneri on violin and Jeanette Lambert on vocals, who sings the poems by Emily Brontë on three of the numbers, a Victorian novelist and poet who is best known for her novel Wuthering heights.
All of the contributing musicians are great improvisers in their own right and the interplay between them is nothing but fantastic and jaw dropping. The sound on these recordings are as Michel Lambert puts it "The drums are deep, the guitar is very electric, the violin is wild and the voice is clear", I could not have said it better myself.
These 10 numbers is a very interesting, but also a demanding experience
to listen to, but if you are open to listen to something you perhaps,
not have listened to before then go for it, get this album downloaded
from the Ayler Records website and enjoy this music.
